Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie is making headlines after a failed attempt at dancing went viral. Lurie joined his team in celebration after they crushed the Atlanta Falcons in a playoff win.

  • 1. According to Philly he married his Vietnamese wife Tina Lai in 2013. The then 39 year old is the youngest of 8 siblings. He divorced his wife of 20 years Christina Weiss Lurie the previous year. He doesn’t have any children with current wife Tina. He has a son and a daughter from his previous marriage to Christina.
  • 2. Forbes estimates his net worth at $1.85 billion. Some of his earnings he inherited from his grandfather Phillip Smith, no relation to the cigarette company Phillip Morris. His grandfather founded General Cinema Movie Theaters which was one of the largest chains of theaters in the country. In the 1960’s his grandfather’s company started acquiring bottling companies including a Pepsi bottling operation. According to Forbes Pepsi is the #30 most valuable brand in the world. His grandfather’s company eventually evolved to Harcourt General Inc. The company continues to rank amongst the world’s largest publishing companies.


  • 3. Jeffrey Lurie’s ethnicity is Jewish. His parents Nancy and Morris raised him in Boston Massachusetts.
  • 4. Jeffrey Lurie is not the sole owner of the Philadelphia Eagles. He is the majority owner and ESPN reports that his wife still retains some ownership following their divorce.


  • 5. He purchased the Eagles in 1994 for $185 million. But most people don’t know he tried to purchase the Patriots before buying the Eagles. Coincidentally the Eagles played the Pats in the Super Bowl in 2005.
